Nortuna Takes Aquaculture a Step Further
NORTUNA – SUSTAINABILITY
Replication of the Natural Processes
Through sustainable production, Nortuna will be an important contributor to achieve UN’s sustainability goals. Nortuna shall be the most attractive investment in sustainable seafood production, giving a strong return to the local society, the State of Cabo Verde and the shareholders of the Company.
FEEDING TECHNOLOGY
Nortuna has spent several years to develop a strategy to farm ABFT in a way that supports the UN sustainability goals. Production of seafood is all about replication of the natural processes as efficiently as possible in a controlled environment. Our feed technology together with focus on fish welfare secures low feed factors and low mortality.
GIVING BACK TO LOCAL SOCIETY
Nortuna is setting a new standard for corporate social responsibility through its groundbreaking sustainable aquaculture initiatives in Cape Verde. As a conscientious employer, Nortuna commits to conducting its business in a way that respects and enhances the local environment and community.
NORTUNA SETTING NEW STANDARDS
Environmental Conscious Approach
Nortuna illustrates how modern aquaculture can be a force for good, setting an inspiring standard for investments in developing countries.
LOW IMPACT ON THE ECOSYSTEM
An environmentally conscious approach from feed to operating methods, ensuring minimal impact on the local ecosystem. Collaboration with local schools and universities is key to building local expertise and ensuring that the community benefits from Nortuna's long-term presence.
DEVELOPING INFRASTRUCTURE
Beyond financial concerns, Nortuna are keen on developing infrastructure outside the most populated islands, creating valuable jobs, and establishing aquaculture facilities that adhere to strict Norwegian standards for sustainability and environmental protection.
BULDING LOCAL AQUACULTURE EXPERTISE
In collaboration with the authorities of Cape Verde, universities, and educational institutions, Nortuna is already an active participant in the effort to educate and build expertise in Cape Verde for all jobs within aquaculture. We have already employed many locals for both highly educated jobs and more traditional jobs.
